The Lord has opened wonderful doors for our family to begin church-planting in the unreached city of Los Barrios, in the Campo de Gibraltar region of Cadiz Province in Southern Spain. We are so excited to begin church-planting in an area that has been on our hearts for many years. JD first served in this area on a mission trip in the summer of 2000 and since then has been convinced of the tremendous opportunities presented for sharing the Gospel in this very strategic end of the earth.
That is why the Andalucía Project could use your help. Through the Andalucía Project, we are seeking to open a new Bible-teaching church, to be called Living Water Evangelical Church, to serve the Campo de Gibraltar area by proclaiming the Good News, providing opportunities for Bible study, discipleship, for equipping world-changers and for training locals to extend the Good News to the ends of the earth. Our theme verses from this new church plant are inspired by Zacariah 14:8: And in that day it shall be
That living waters shall flow from Jerusalem, Half of them toward the eastern sea
And half of them toward the western sea;In both summer and winter it shall occur.”
And by John 4:13-14: Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
To establish this new church we will need partners who will commit to pray for us, to give towards the many ministry expenses related to establishing a new church: for opening a storefront from which we can launch neighborhood outreach, begin ministries in the community and have a base from which we can connect with the neighbors.
Thank you for your prayers for our family as we relocate from Sevilla to Los Barrios. Please pray for our search for a rental home and that we can find clear niches where we can begin to minister from.
Biographical Testimony: JD heard and answered the missionary call at the very grown-up age of ten. A call went out one Sunday night in Riverside, California, “Will anyone come to the Lord’s service overseas?” and little JD went forward. That was in 1991, and JD has seen the Lord’s hand go before his faith in too many ways to count. JD was influenced by a dynamic youth group and youth leaders in the 1990’s who took him and the rest of the youth group on regular mission trips to Sara’s native Baja California, Mexico. JD was blessed to be presented with the opportunity to participate in mission-trips to Guatemala, North Africa, Spain and Mexico while in his teens. So early on JD felt a decidedly missionary call on his life, and a warm place in his heart for the Spanish speaking world, not knowing what lay ahead in Spain. Since then JD has served with Tentmakers for 11 years and holds his B.A. from California Baptist University and his Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from Southern California Seminary.
Sara Jean was also receiving God’s calling as a missionary on the mission field, as a missionary kid who lived at the mission base of the El Buen Pastor (Good Shepherd) Hospital in San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico. Sara grew up living a missionary’s life and she and her siblings greeted the many short-term missionary teams that came to work at the mission hospital and church. Sara graduated with her computer engineering degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California and began post-college professional life in San Diego, CA, where she was to meet JD Bennett while he was back from Spain on furlough. Today they serve as a team, with their daughters Sarah Ruth and Abigail Mae.
We covet your prayers,
JD, Sara, Sarah Ruth and Abigail Bennett
